Team Rocket (2000) Complete Guide: History, Full 83/82 Card List, and Where to Buy

The Team Rocket set, released in April 2000, brought a darker tone to the Pokémon TCG. It introduced the first-ever Dark Pokémon, a special type featuring alternate artwork and a more aggressive aesthetic. This 82-card expansion (plus a secret rare) marked the first time the game explored a villain-focused theme, drawing inspiration from the antagonists of the Pokémon video games and anime.

Collectors love the Team Rocket set for its unique character cards, the debut of the Dark mechanic, and the nostalgic feel of the early Wizards of the Coast era. The most famous card in the set is the secret rare Dark Raichu, which was also the first secret rare card in Pokémon TCG history.
